UT Health SA includes the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, School of Health Professions and School of Public Health. The Department of Occupational Therapy is within the School of Health Professions ( https://uthscsa.edu/health-professions/ ) and supports a large research and patient care enterprise. In August 2024, the University of Texas (UT) System Board of Regents authorized UT System to integrate University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and UT Health SA into one unified institution, establishing a world-class university integrating academic, research, and clinical aspects. Driven by a vision for growth and impact, this merger will expand capacity to offer robust undergraduate and graduate programs, attract top-tier faculty and staff, develop innovative initiatives, and elevate transdisciplinary research to address the evolving needs of the region. The Department of Occupational Therapy invites applications for a Full-time position in the accredited Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) education program. This position may be tenure, tenure-track or non-tenure Faculty at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor, or Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor, dependent on qualifications and experience. Faculty rank and tenure status will be determined based on the qualification of the final candidate. This is a full-time (12-month) faculty position that reports to the Chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy. Salary, academic rank/appointment, and tenure status will be commensurate with the education and experience of the successful candidate. Faculty member’s roles and responsibilities will be determined by department chair in order to meet the OTD program objectives and outcomes. Faculty are expected to contribute to established departmental and institutional goals and requirements, in concert with the department, school, and university’s mission and vision. Faculty responsibilities for this position include some or all of the following: teaching, research and scholarly activities, student advising, committee service, clinical and community activities and/or fieldwork coordination. Additional responsibilities may include involvement in off-campus, evening or weekend duties, as well as student recruitment, and retention efforts. Work environment is office, classroom, lab and/or clinical. Roles and Duties Duties and workload will be determined individually for each core faculty member and will constitute a combination of: · Teaching in the classroom, laboratory, small groups and community. · Scholarly and/or research activities that support the departmental strategic plan. · Student advisement and mentoring related to academic coursework, professional behaviors, fieldwork education, and the doctoral capstone development and experience. · Departmental, institutional, and professional committee service as determined by chair and faculty member. · Professional association activities, community activities, clinical practice, and other activities as determined by chair and faculty member. Required Qualifications · Minimum Three years of clinical practice experience in the field of o ccupational t herapy (OT). · A doctoral degree in occupational therapy, or related field, from a regionally accredited institution. · OT Texas licensure required. Newly employed faculty members must have Texas license by first day of employment. · Current/Active NBCOT certification. · Documented expertise and experiences in teaching, scholarship and service within the areas assigned by department chair. Preferred Qualifications · Documented expertise and experiences as an OT Fieldwork Educator in the practice setting, including mentorship and supervision of OT students. Additional Information Benefits Overview UT Health San Antonio offers an excellent benefits package for its employees. Employees who work at least 20 hours a week, with an appointment of at least 4.5 months, are eligible for benefits. Medical - UT SELECT Medical insurance is offered free for employees and administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. Family members can be added to the plan through payroll deduction. Life Employees receive $40,000 of group term life insurance and $40,000 of basic accidental death and dismemberment insurance for free, with options to purchase additional employee and dependent coverage for both at group rates. Retirement - Employees are eligible for either the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) or the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP). TRS is a defined benefit retirement plan which UT Health matches employee contributions. ORP is for eligible faculty staff employees. Voluntary retirement programs are also available to invest before- or after-tax dollars with the choice of five quality retirement plan providers. Time Off- A generous leave program offers multiple paid leave options: Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire. Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken. Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment. Holidays: 12 set paid holidays each fiscal year. FSAs- Employees can enroll in flexible spending accounts (FSAs) to set aside money from earnings before taxes for qualifying dependent day care expenses or out-of-pocket health care expenses.
