Your Opportunity

Stantec Geomatics Ltd. is seeking an experienced licensed Ontario Land Surveyor to be based in Ottawa, helping to develop prospects within our growing Ontario Geomatics Team. This position involves the supervision of a dedicated team of survey technologists and technicians and liaising with clients and team leads from other disciplines within Stantec.  This position will appeal to those individuals who enjoy a dynamic work environment where they can manage multifaceted projects. Starting in the capacity of a Project Manager, this role is expected to grow into that of a Practice Lead, where the quality of product and concerns of the Geomatics Team are managed. The Practice Leader will work closely with the Operational Leader and cross disciplinary leadership within Stantec to continuously develop the growth of our Geomatics team across Ontario.

Your Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of Project Management including:

preparing proposals, project research, survey computations,  field and office staff supervision, plan review, signing plans, reporting and timely delivery on final returns, client communications and business development providing mentorship to various personnel within the team to aid career development and succession planning, identifying areas for process improvement and innovation in field and CAD procedures Your Capabilities and Credentials Experience with GPS and total station survey equipment Experience with survey computational and least squares adjustment software (Trimble Business Center, MicroSurvey & AutoCAD Civil 3D) Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills Excellent organizational and project management skills Solid understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements Meeting and exceeding all AOLS Continuous Professional Development (CPD) requirements Eager to learn and develop professionally Self motivated and capable to manage in a Leadership role. Valid Driver’s License Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Geomatics, Surveying or related field & Licensed by the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors (AOLS). Minimum of 5 years of licensed experience.  Licensed Ontario Land Surveyor, in good standing with the AOLS. 

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
