No If Temporary, enter End Date: Position Summary The SUNY Cortland Financial Aid Office seeks candidates for two Office Assistant 1 (Keyboarding) positions. The ideal candidates will be team-minded, friendly, and motivated to work in a fast-paced office.

-Free access to our state of the art fitness center, the Student Life Center! https://www2.cortland.edu/offices/recreational-sports/Student-Life-Center/ Major Responsibilities Serve as primary receptionist for the Financial Aid Office: Respond to inquiries from walk-in office visitors. Answer phones and provide customer service to questions related to financial aid office function and resources including applications, deadlines, general financial aid award information, and office policy and procedures. Respond to student and parent inquiries via email and online chat. Process incoming documents via mail and fax. Utilize a variety of technology (OnBase, Team Dynamix, Banner, Outlook) to answer questions from students, parents, and faculty/staff. Assist with office mailings.

Other clerical responsibilities: Schedule appointments for financial aid advisors using Outlook. Provide outreach to students via phone and email to encourage completion of financial aid documents. Proactively run reports to ensure completion of financial aid applications and other outstanding requests.
Functional and Supervisory Relationships The Office Assistant 1 reports to the Assistant Director of Financial Aid. Required Qualifications 1. Permanent Competitive Appointment Options:
To be appointed on a PERMANENT basis to this title, you must hold or have held the title of Office Assistant 1 (Keyboarding) or be reachable on the full-time NYS Civil Service list and respond to canvass letter that will be emailed to people on the eligible list. You may also qualify if you are permanent in the following title: Office Assistant 1. You must also pass the Civil Service typing test, which can be administered in the Human Resources Office.

2. Non-Competitive Appointment Option: This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required, but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.

At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified
