**Responsibilities:**
GENERAL PURPOSE
Builds and maintains operational database, including Epic. Administers database utilities, monitors the relationships between the database users and applications, and maintains the organization's databases across multiple platforms and computing environments. Applies understanding of relational database concepts and query languages in order to design required summary or aggregation tables to support analyses. Collaborates with technology/infrastructure staff to identify data relationships and functional requirements. Analyzes and resolves issues related to information flow and content. Maintains database support tools, database tables and dictionaries and recovery and back-up procedures. Performs data modeling studies and develops detailed data models. Creates data model and entity relationship diagrams.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**
+ Performs software installations, maintenance, and configurations in a controlled environment that consists of thorough testing of the product. Ensures the implementation process is as seamless and non-disruptive to production systems as possible. Provides the necessary training to applications or computer operations staff. Designs, implements, tests, and monitors backup and recovery procedures for operating system, database software, databases, and application software. Ensures systems are recoverable. Evaluates new software products, new or enhanced features or installed software and recommends a direction for implementation. Provides Database Administration support, including data transformation duties for the various database management software packages installed, such as database design and/or database definition. Provides application level support as needed for Enterprise Applications that utilize supported Database Management System.
+ Uses the operating system/database monitors installed to determine if all necessary components of the operating system and/or database system are functioning and accessible. Monitors end-user response time for production applications to ensure consistent and acceptable performance. Certifies service level agreements are being met. Reviews performance data from the operating system and the databases on at least a quarterly basis. Determines if performance objectives are being met. Recommends and implements performance-tuning changes based review. Monitors the performance, capacity, and usage of the disk storage subsystem. Monitors dataset placement and allocations to ensure established guidelines are followed, space is not being misused, and input/output rates are within acceptable limits.
+ Collaborates with computer operations, applications development, end-users, and software vendors to provide first-level support for problems related to the operating system or database software environments. Assists application development with problem determination and resolution for application abends. Responds promptly to all problems, keeping in mind the computing environment supports a user community that requires access to critical business information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Rotates primary/secondary/backup on-call for off-hours support with other staff members.
+ Maintains current knowledge of technology and an advanced level of software skills through self-study programs, reading technical journals, attending job related seminars, and personal development conferences that develop and strengthen skills. Functions as a technical resource for members of the operating system and database group, applications development, computer operations, and the end-user community. Develops and maintains operating system/database software documentation that is necessary to support the products installed. Maintains an awareness of current projects and deadlines and assigns priorities as required. Completes projects on-time and within budget constraints.

**MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**
+ Bachelor's degree and 4 years of relevant experience required
+ Or equivalent combination of education and experience
