Job Overview:

The Senior Occupational Therapist administers, plans, directs, and coordinates the Occupational Therapy patient care services in accordance with established policies and standards. Utilizes clinical perception and demonstrates ability to translate into action with interpretation for long term goals and recognizing variance in expected outcomes. Provides direct patient care services. Indirectly supervises the Occupational Therapy team.

Qualifications:

Required:

Graduate of accredited program in Occupational Therapy at the baccalaureate or post baccalaureate level required.Licensed/registered by the State New Jersey.Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.

Preferred:

Active membership in a professional organization is encouraged

Essential Functions:

Responsible for evaluation and treatment of patients in the acute care setting,Patient and family intervention on all nursing units including, but not limited to orthopedics, neurology, neurosurgery, oncology, cardiac, critical care, trauma, general medicine and telemetry, emergency department and pediatrics,Strong teamwork, communication and documentation skills required for intra disciplinary and interdisciplinary communicationSupervise the activities of the Staff Occupational Therapists, Assistants, Aide, Transporter, student or volunteer to ensure:

Patient safety with appropriate levels of involvement of each patient.

Patient confidentiality at all times.

Body mechanics are employed properly to minimize injury.

Appropriate professional demeanor is maintained at all times in the department.

Completes performance evaluation on staff members.
