$200,000-$230,000
**Description**
The University Health Service is committed to improving the health of its students and staff. We have a diverse patient population including employees and students from a variety of backgrounds, one-third being of international origin.
This is a blended, full-time position including primary care provision (80%) and occupational health (20%) leadership. The physician will maintain a primary faculty appointment, department and rank based on the individual’s expertise and training. Candidates for this position must be a Physician with active Medical License in New York State and must qualify for faculty appointment in the School of Medicine and Dentistry.
The physician will provide high quality primary care and illness care to employees and students. This includes performing assessment, evaluation, diagnosis, treatment/prescribing, planning, and patient education. The physician will also contribute to the educational mission of the University by participating in the supervision of medical residents. The physician may pursue scholarship as desired.
The physician will also serve the UHS Assistant Director for Occupational Health. The Assistant Director role will comprise at least 20% FTE, with the potential for additional effort depending on the individual candidate’s circumstances. The balance of effort will comprise clinical, research, teaching, scholarship, and/or other duties individually negotiated with the primary department. The physician will provide medical oversight for UHS Occupational Health programs, oversee the clinical work of the Occ Health APP and nurses, see employees and students with work-related health issues as needed, collaborate with other UR departments to protect the health of UR employees, and ensure compliance with OSHA and NYS regulations.
Continuing education in the content area of occupational health can be supported for the competitive candidate who may not have this expertise.
The physician is expected to engage in life-long learning activities sponsored by UHS and professional organizations of their choice. The physician is also expected to maintain the highest degree of professionalism and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
**Qualifications**
+ M.D. or D.O. Degree or equivalent
+ A New York State Medical License
+ Compliance with University and New York State health requirements
+ Five years (5) of clinical experience in primary care AND prior occupational health experience preferred
Will sponsor occupational health continuing education if no previous experience
