Meijer offers an 11-week internship program that challenges interns to deliver innovative solutions to real projects that impact the business. Throughout the course of the internship experience, we deliver diverse personal and professional development opportunities that further develop skillsets that can be implemented both during and after the program. The internship program will allow for interaction with other interns and Meijer senior leaders.

The internship program includes:

What you will be doing as an Occupational Health & Safety Intern:

Gaining experience evaluating safety metrics to identify risk trends; conducting store and supply chain locations safety evaluations; collaborating with internal partners to support an overall holistic safety strategy; developing occupational safety training policies and procedures; and conducting investigations of regulatory citations.

The intern may also get exposure to other activities of the function, including:

Engagement with governmental agenciesIndustrial best practicesManagement of safety services providersVarious safety consultation services for internal partnersBroader understanding of Meijer’s Asset Protection organization

Qualifications:

Progress toward a Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, or related fieldPrior internship/coursework experience with financial analytics and/or programming analysisAbility to work flexible shifts (primarily days) to gain exposure to the full operation of the businessDrive for results - has focus on supporting a culture of safetyCustomer focus - dedicated to meeting expectations of internal and external customersRelationship Skills - can create positive working relationships with customers, team members, leadership, and other internal and external constituenciesCommunication Skills - conveys the right information in writing and verbally
