Position Overview:
Performs occupational therapy evaluations and assessments in the treatment and rehabilitation of CH psychiatric patient population. Acts as a primary group therapist and provides direct care by implementing occupational therapy treatment addressing the areas of independent living, affective awareness, social/interpersonal competence, orientation/cognition, problem-solving, coping skills and leisure/need satisfaction and planning.Designs and administers treatment programs based upon all available data. Documents patient data in medical records accurately, thoroughly and within regulatory time requirements.Reviews patient medical record to remain aware of patient's status, treatment, progress and problems. Assesses and evaluates patients within the occupational therapy frame of reference and establishes treatment goals based upon all available data.Provides direct patient care services through individual or group therapy.Schedules patients to be seen by occupational therapy services in conjunction with other team members.Confers with treatment teams to provide functional input in coordination of the patient's total treatment program.Consults with patients and their significant others to provide psychoeducational information as needed. Communicates effectively (verbally and in writing) with patients, staff and other healthcare professionals.Participates in unit based activities and continuing education activities. Participates in performance improvement activities. Participates in staff meetings, case conferences, and agency-sponsored educational sessions.Prepares annual goals and objectives specific to the occupational therapy program.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation: Bachelor's degree or graduation from accredited occupational therapy school or education approved by NJ State Occupational Therapy Advisory Council.Experience: One year previous behavioral health experience.Other Credentials: AHA BLS - Healthcare ProviderUsual Work Day: 8 Hours PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENTFrequent physical demands include: Standing , Walking , Carry objects , Twisting , Bending , Reaching forward , Reaching overhead , Wrist position deviationOccasional physical demands include: Sitting , Climbing (e.g., stairs or ladders) , Push/Pull , Squat/kneel/crawl , Pinching/fine motor activities , Keyboard use/repetitive motion , Taste or SmellContinuous physical demands include: Talk or HearLifting Floor to Waist 15 lbs.
