Job Description

This role is responsible for reporting on systems availability, analyzing downtime and system errors and focuses on developing and refreshing Observability and APM for Old Mutual Limited.

Report on systems availability. Analyze downtime and systems errors. Develop and refresh APM for Old Mutual Limited.APM Capability Build/ Maturity – including competence frameworks, continued professional development (CPD), career paths and job profiles. Establish APM tooling that integrates with on premise and cloud-native applications.Ensure APM implementation documentation and processes are streamlined to provide rapid deployment of services by product teams.Partner with development and operations teams to develop practical APM solutions and custom modules.Troubleshoot APM issues and find practical solutions that move projects forward in a timely manner.Be the trusted APM tooling advisor for monitoring initiatives by providing objective, practical and relevant ideas, insights and advice.Plan, organize, and control multiple responsibilities to achieve project objectives; technically guide projects through to completion.Ensure deliverables are completed within target timeframes and are consistently of high-quality.Work with team to bring continuous improvement to APM processes and tools.Provides technical consulting services where required. Aligns technology to business needs.Identify and propose potential Systems monitoring and provide suggested guidance to architects and various systems administrators and maintain implementation documentation.Architect proposed monitoring and Implementation/production deployment.Develop customized infrastructure dashboards demonstrating corporate environment's performance to both Business and technical administrators.Develop Monitoring Rules for the Infrastructure's prompt alerting - setting required thresholds for the alerts that will benefit/ assist business in monitoring its systems.

IT Service Delivery Management       

Ensures continuous service and systems security.Responsible for aligning technology and technology support to business needs.Responsible for infrastructure management in area of responsibility

Team Effectiveness    

Creates a climate for optimal performance.Provides consultancy services where required

Primary Tasks

Maintain and support APM DynatraceAPM for SQL/Oracle and  OS – windows/Linux  monitoringDevelop APM reports, dashboards, and customizations for internal teamsConfigure notifications through enterprise notification systemMaintain accurate systems documentationProvide training and guidance to internal APM tool usersAbility to trace data flow through complicated architecture including load balancers and various network configurationsCreation of events for ease of administrationAssist application owners and developers with requirements determinationAssist development and Sustain teams with troubleshooting

Role  Requirements:

Relevant tertiary qualification/recognition of prior learning.Professional qualification in APMDynatrace certification (advantageous)3 years APM experienceLinux; shell scripting; SQLProven experience of delivering projects to time and qualitySuccessful experience of translating analysis into practical implementationBasic Windows/UNIX/LINUX Server Systems AdministrationKnowledge of shell scriptingExcellent troubleshooting skills
