Requirements for Nursing Assistants: Completion of Nursing Assistant program, BOCES or Military Hospital Corps School or equivalent with current New York State CNA certification or completion of a Nursing fundamentals course or equivalent within a RN program or a minimum of 1 years' experience working as a Nursing Assistant. High School diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of safety and infection control practices. Knowledge of computer systems and/or prior clerical experience required. BLS or CPR/AED training required and accepted from only 1 organization: American Heart Association - BLS/ACLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED). No online programs from any organization will be accepted. Additionally, St. Joseph Hospital is excited to be offering fully paid training to those who would like to become Nursing Assistants. Upon successful completion of this program, chosen applicants are awarded a role working at our facility in one of our numerous specialties, including Telemetry, Coronary Care, Surgical Care, and more! About the Nursing Assistant Training Program: What are the perks? Fully paid immersive, patient-focused classroom and on-the-job training. What to expect: Skills you will learn: Patient care activities such as proper hygienic care (bathing, showering, shaving, etc.), assisting with hydration and nutrition, ambulation and transportation of patients, therapeutic communication and assisting in emergency situations. BLS certification provided. Training/Orientation is fully paid at the same rate of the position. Classroom-style learning supplemented with hands on clinical training. Agreement to a 1-year commitment period working at St. Joseph Hospital upon successful completion of the training program. Requirements: Passion for Patient Care.
