A Brief Overview
The Clinical Secretary Nursing Assistant performs clerical duties on a nursing unit, answers the telephone, relays messages and acts as a receptionist receiving and directing visitors and ambulatory patients. The Clinical Secretary Nursing Assistant is responsible for direct patient care services as assigned by the Clinical Director and under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.

What you will doTelephone and patient call bells are answered in a prompt & appropriate manner Orders are transcribed accurately Charts are in appropriate order, flagged & labeled appropriately for verbal orders Files labs & other reports accurately Assures all referrals and consults are initiated appropriately Changes in patient’s condition is reported to RN/LPN
Education QualificationsHigh School Diploma required with the successful completion of Medical Terminology course and a passing score on the examination. Or may substitute 2 years previous specific work experience with medical terminology for the Medical Terminology course certification. (Example: HIM Tech, Paralegal, Medical Biller, Medical Secretary, Patient Access Representative) High School Diploma with the completion of approved course of study for Nursing Assistant training or successful completion of fundamentals semester of Nursing school preferred. Experience Qualifications One year Clerical experience or Nursing Assistant experience Preferred Skills and AbilitiesWorks with patients, families, physicians, and other health care providers. Licenses and Certifications Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification Preferred Basic Life Support Certified is required within 30 days of hire. Recertification every two years is Required
