Nursing Assistant-Medical Surgical Unit- Night Shift

The NAI performs duties, such as feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, or moving patients or changing linens. **Responsibilities:** Patients and families are served in providing direct patient care services. Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner to project a positive image of the department and hospital. Ensures that contacts with other health care members is friendly helpful and courteous. **Other information:** **Qualifications** EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS High school graduate or equivalent. Completion of North Carolina (NC) Board of Nursing approved Nursing Assistant course. **PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT** + None required. **LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION** + Certified by the N. C. Department of Facility Services as a NAI. BCLS Certification. **KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS** + Good interpersonal, communication and observation skills are essential. Understanding of patient care needs according to developmental stages for various age groups. **WORK ENVIRONMENT** + Exposure to blood borne pathogens, airborne pathogens, and other infectious diseases requiring the use of protective equipment; exposure to other hazards, such as radiation, toxic waste, chemical hazards based on the departments. Possible exposure to conditions, such as fumes, noxious odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation. **PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT** + Standing, sitting, walking and working throughout the shift. Lifting, pulling, turning and pushing patients daily. Ability to use appropriate Safe-Patient Handling equipment. Visual acuity, auditory and verbal skills necessary.
