Job SummaryAPRN: Nationally certified licensed healthcare provider who provides primary and/or specialty nursing and/or medical care in a variety of healthcare settings. Functions in collaboration with a physician according to a standard care arrangement and specialty certification. Practice emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention and the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health problems. Certifications may include: acute care, adult, family, gerontology, psych and mental health, neonatology, pediatrics and women's health.

PA: Nationally certified licensed healthcare provider who provides primary and or specialty medical care (the practice of medicine) in a variety of healthcare settings. Functions the collaboration agreement of a Physician, (as per O.R.C. 4730) performs complete histories and physicals on patients of all ages to establish and record patient's current health status and to develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan to provide continuing medical care, including daily examinations, writing orders, chart notes, discharging patients and completing discharge summaries. This medical care may be in a variety of clinical settings. PA's are privileged by the Board of Governors. PA's in the Hospital care role provide outpatient and/or hospital based care to patients (more than 50% of their time) with complex, acute, and chronic health conditions. Outpatient/Hospital care PA's practice in a setting that requires the performance of diagnostic and therapeutic interventions to manage acute and chronic health problems. Must have the ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams.

                         

Job Details

Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation is currently seeking a qualified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to join their team. The PNP will primarily provide outpatient services to infants and children up to age 8. The PNP will be responsible for the diagnosis and management of developmental delay, intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorders in children, evaluation and treatment of behavioral disorders including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, developmental and behavioral disorders associated with genetic disorders, and screening for learning disorders. Experience with these patient populations is desired, but not required. New graduates are welcome to apply. Training will be provided.

Begins orientation to the department, functioning under the direction of the midlevel manager and supervising physician and under an RN scope of practice until credentialed and privileged by Cleveland Clinic.

Responsibilities:

Completes patient history and performs patient assessment. Identifies, organizes, and interprets relevant data according to RN scope of practice.Discusses findings with responsible provider.Works as part of an interdisciplinary care team along with patient, family and significant others to develop plan of care.Focuses on cost-effective ways to maximize wellness, prevent illness, disease and disability.Develops and implements the nursing component of the plan of care as appropriate.Provides health education to patients and families.Evaluates learning needs and abilities of patients and families and adapts education to meet those needs.Documents education and participates in the development of the educational plan. Assists in the preparation of department-specific education for patients and/or colleagues.Provides care for patients of all ages as per scope of practice.Utilizes the health care resources appropriately.Other duties as assigned.

Education:

Effective 05/01/2014: MSN required upon hire or within 3 years of hire for external hires and internal hires moving from a non-APRN licensed role to an APRN licensed role.Eligible to sit for national graduate certification exam leading to a certificate of authority in the state of employment.

Languages:

Oral and written communication in English

Certifications:

Licensed in the applicable sate as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Complexity of Work:

Current demonstrated clinical competence in nursing role.Good verbal, written an interpersonal skills.

Work Experience:

Related clinical experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Requires full range of motion; manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
