Overview

Kelemen North 7 is a 23-bed medical surgical/telemetry unit specializing in the care of traumatically injured patients. Patients with injuries that are stable but require ongoing close monitoring are admitted to this unit directly from the ED or the Ross Trauma Admitting Area. Patients are also admitted to the unit as they are downgraded from the Trauma/Surgical ICU or the Trauma Step-Down Unit. Patients usually cared for in this area include those with traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, rib fractures and lung injuries, as well as diverse orthopedic injuries requiring frequent monitoring and care. The unit is staffed with registered nurses, critical care technicians, trauma surgery nurse practitioners and resident physicians. Staff also work closely with respiratory therapy and specialized surgical groups such as orthopedics and neurosurgery.
