Nurse Educator, FT McLeod Health

Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. The system currently has 988 licensed beds, including Hospice and Behavioral Health. The hospitals within McLeod Health include: McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Health Seacoast, McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon and McLeod Behavioral Health.  

Essential Job Responsibilities/Expectations

Job responsibilities include those listed in competencies document. Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.  Collaborates with other Nurse Educators and leaders to ensure high quality, evidence-based educational programs are developed and executed throughout the health system, as needed. Facilitates licensed Nursing Orientation for clinical care areas, providing an appropriate learning environment for new hires. Supports newly licensed nurses through the nurse residency program(s). Documents competencies for new hires and transfers attending Nursing Orientation in the McLeod Health LMS. Collaborates with Talent Management to schedule orientation and Skills Validation for new hires and transfer employees. Creates and completes classes, including attendance, in the McLeod Health LMS.  Participates in Performance Improvement initiatives throughout the healthcare system. Participates with the McLeod Health Training Center for specialty certifications as needed; instructing classes, mentoring other instructors, serving as a resource for students. Provides and maintains a safe work environment. Facilitate clinical classes for novice and experienced clinical staff, including, but not limited to, Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses.  Must be proficient in Microsoft Office 365.  Collaborates with various departments and committees to promote high quality, evidence-based patient care.

Job Requirements

Qualifications/Training:

Minimum 10 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Leadership experience preferred. 

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of South Carolina by the South Carolina Board of Nursing.  BLS Provider and Instructor required within one year of hire.  ACLS Provider and Instructor required within one year of hire.  PALS Provider and Instructor required within one year of hire.
