Summary: The Registered Nurse is accountable for the provision of safe, efficient and therapeutically effective care on the patient care unit to which they are assigned. Care is delivered in compliance with hospital policies, procedures, legal and regulatory standards. Specific components of the registered nurses role includes: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. The RN documents this nursing process on all prescribed forms. The RN develops and maintains collaborative, professional relationships with other members of the health care team. The RN prioritizes and coordinates the patient’s care with other members of the health care team. Consistent demonstration of all necessary competencies for the position assumed and unit assigned is required. Actively contributes to the evaluation of patient care and nursing practices through continuous quality improvement efforts. Accepts responsibility for personal professional development and contributes to the growth of others on the health care team. Fulfills responsibilities as an employee of St. Joseph Health Services of RI.
Education: Graduate of an accredited Nursing School, BSN preferred.
Licensure: Current Rhode Island RN licensure required.
Experience: 1-2 years previous experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
Clinical assessment. Delegation to ancillary staff as appropriate to role. Patient and family education skills. Knowledge of aseptic principles, and the technical skills to perform nursing procedures. Ability to calculate medication dosages. Skills in organization and priority setting. Maintains information confidential (HIPAA) Demonstrated customer service skills Ability to responsive customer service skills when interacting and taking into consideration cultural background, linguistic skills and age of customers Ability to work cooperatively with peers and other disciplines Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with peers and other interdisciplinary teams
Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements: Visual acuity and hand dexterity. Physical ability involves variety of body movements including stooping, bending, kneeling, lifting, standing, walking, twisting, stretching and reaching. Physical ability involves pushing, pulling and lifting more than 30 lbs.
