Nuclear Safety Engineer 3

Amentum is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented Nuclear Safety Engineer 3 to support projects in Albuquerque, NM
+ Perform Primary Hazard Screening (PHS) reviews for those associated with nuclear material and perform field assessments (walkdowns), if necessary.
+ Perform independent USQ reviews.
+ Perform, develop, and review documentation for Readiness Reviews.
+ Perform Conduct of Operation assessments as required/requested.
+ Perform an annual USQ Assessment to include; an Assessment Plan, interviews of USQ preparers and reviewers, compile observations and findings for comment and reconciliation, draft an assessment report and send to assessment team for comment and reconciliation, finalize the report, and document results.
+ Lead or support the Independent Review Team (IRT) by reviewing and providing comments on annual updates.
+ Assist with the Implementation Validation Review (IVR) process associated with annual updates.
+ Support the PHS and USQ software by reporting, tracking, responding to, and addressing issues and interfacing with software programmers as required.
+ Develop and provide training on safety basis issues and procedures, such as the USQ process and DOE-STD-1027.
+ Develop, review, maintain, and/or provide comments on changes to internal department policies, department owned corporate policies, the ES&H Manual, and other corporate policies.
+ Complete the department qualification cards for Nuclear Facility Safety Basis Engineer, Conduct of Operations SME, and Readiness Review Subject Matter Expert as requested.
+ Review other safety basis documentation as required, such as hazard analyses and safety assessments.
+ Provide general support for committees/operations as requested.
+ Attend and support EFCOG meetings as requested.
+ Attend and support department meetings as requested.
Qualifications:
BS/BA in engineering or equivalent technical discipline and 5+ years of relevant work experience
MS/MA in engineering or equivalent technical discipline and 3+ years of relevant work experience
PhD in engineering or equivalent technical discipline
Other Requirements:
Good communication and analytical skills; knowledgeable about Microsoft Office applications.
Individuals must be capable of obtaining a DOE site security badge. The position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance. Due to the nature of the work, the candidate must be a US Citizen; dual Citizenship is not permitted.
