Basic Job Functions:The Shift Electrician’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, taking care of our customers by executing the division’s Safety, Quality, Cost, Productivity, & Profitability objectives. This includes troubleshooting and repairs, cooperating with and supporting operations, aggressively pursuing process improvement, assist with documentation and training for all equipment and other duties assigned. The successful candidate will possess a working knowledge of electrical principles as well as practical hands-on experience to be utilized in a production environment. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including scheduled and unscheduled overtime, rotating shifts, and weekends. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications: Two-year degree, successful completion of trade school, or a minimum of three years industrial electrical experience (Manufacturing preferred) Preferences: Experience in industrial electrical equipment including electrical distribution, and machine control systems. (13.8KV down) Practical experience in electrical theory as it relates to electric motors, transformers, and other 3 phase electrical equipment. Knowledge of automation and networking equipment and processes including: Knowledge of PID/closed loop control systems Networking tools and standards HMI programming and troubleshooting Process instrumentation Protection Equipment NFPA 70E Training Preferences Continued: Overhead crane knowledge and repair experience Demonstrated computer skill set including experience with MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and AutoCAD Ability to interpret electrical schematics for installation, repair, and maintaining equipment Basic pneumatic and hydraulic system knowledge PLC’s system building, programming, and troubleshooting experience Variable Frequency Drive experience
