The North America Packaging Category Buyer develops and drives the sourcing and procurement strategy for the North America Packaging spend category. Pursues and qualifies new suppliers who meet DuPont requirements. Develops and maintains market intelligence to enable strategies required to improve the quality of decisions throughout the value chain. The Packaging Buyer drives cost structure transformation and supports revenue growth through Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), supports innovation and manages market shifts. The position requires strong client engagement to understand packaging requirements. This position focuses on the impact of the category on the end product and mitigates supply risk to the businesses.
**Your Key Responsibilities** :
+ Work closely with the Global Packaging Category Manager to align on top level commercial strategies.
+ Manage North America Packaging portfolio,
+ Engage with regional teams across DuPont businesses to understand business and regional needs, forecast and demand.
+ Collaborate with other buyers and support agents to execute packaging procurement strategies.
+ Develop and drive category savings initiatives aligned with business objectives.
+ Create & evaluate market facts and trends (market intelligence).
+ Provide a fact-based understanding of current supply base and intelligence on contracts terms.
+ Develop and execute multi-year unique commodity procurement strategies.
+ Identify and select suppliers, negotiate pricing and terms and conditions for packaging.
+ Design and manage the Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Quotation package workflow as needed to support business objectives.
+ Lead negotiations with suppliers.
+ Manage supplier relationships (SRM) with key strategic suppliers and develop playbooks to define the working relationship. Drive delivery of best in class performance.
+ Engage in dispute resolution and conduct regular and disciplined client engagement for continuous improvement processes.
+ Deliver documented savings from bid processes, negotiations, and innovative savings opportunities to meet business requirements and procurement organization objectives.
+ Provide supply chain with pertinent contract information and periodic training on contract and agreement content and interpretation. Drive compliance through rapid and complete implementation.
+ Manage communications with suppliers and serve as key point of contact for DuPont businesses on contractual matters.
+ Maintain suppliers and commodity strategies in the appropriate databases.
**Your Qualification Profile:**
+ Bachelor degree in Supply Chain, Business, Packaging Engineering or a related field
+ Proficient in use of personal computers and MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power-point). Advanced excel skills preferred.
+ Must have prior packaging experience
+ 5+ years of buying experience is preferred.
+ Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt is preferred.
+ Excellent verbal and writing skills.
+ Strong negotiation, organization and management abilities.
+ Ability to effectively interact with and influence people at all levels and varied cultures within and outside of company.
+ Ability to balance short-term vs. long-term needs, company vs. supplier needs.
+ Detail oriented, demonstrated analytical capabilities.
+ Ability to manage multiple project tasks and quickly initiate changes in plan when appropriate
+ Previous experience on sustainability initiatives will be a plus
