Position Overview
This position will support the transportation department and assist with all coordination and communication under the direction of the Transportation Manager. This position will interface internally with our project managers, contract manager, construction and paving management, as well as, payroll. In addition, the position will also interface externally with our hired haulers and vendors.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties & Functions)
Responsible for assisting with the management of the transportation group (company trucks, independent hired haulers, and dispatch) by maintaining accurate records and through constant, clear, and concise communication. Recruit and schedule all transportation needs required by business demands, including but not limited to, construction operations, paving operations, FOB sales and to meet our customer demands. Direct company and hired haulers daily activities. Ensure driver paperwork is completed accurately and timely. Follow-up with drivers as needed for information and clarification. Maintain up-to-date DOT files for all drivers, abiding by federal regulations. Editing haul vendor reports for accuracy of payment amounts. Coding with general ledger account numbers and phase codes. Process batches through accounts payable Tracking of certified hours, copying and distribution of certified information to insure compliance of prevailing wages on applicable jobs. Matching checks with back-ups for hired haulers. Handling requests for information or resolving variances in quantities or prices. Professional and courteous communication via telephone, email etc. with all customers, hired haulers, co-workers, and public.
Skills & Specifications
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence Ability to multi-task and triage as needed without getting overwhelmed. Must have an extreme attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal skills, strong interpersonal skills and ability to diplomatically handle challenging situations. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to speak effectively to customers, managers, co-workers, hired haulers, state and federal representatives, and the general public. Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
Education/Professional Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent Previous transportation coordination experience preferred but not required. Previous construction experience preferred but not required.
