Title: New Organizer Training Program (NOTP)

Location:  New York, New Jersey, Boston, Miami

Are you interested in a career in the labor movement, or in progressive organizing? Do you have what it takes to change North Carolina’s politics by enacting economic and social change?

You can be part of the exciting process to win significant wage gains, health insurance, full-time work and organizing rights for low-wage workers, as well as campaigns to protect workers’ jobs.

SEIU 32BJ is growing fast by organizing workers who are fighting for a living wage, affordable healthcare, respect, and a voice in their future. With 175,000 members, SEIU 32BJ is the largest union representing property service workers in the country. Our members have fought for and achieved high standards for private and public sector property service workers, and we continue to fight for higher standards for thousands of unorganized workers.

What is the New Organizer Training Program?

The New Organizer Training Program (NOTP) at SEIU Local 32BJ offers a unique opportunity for aspiring organizers to learn the basics of workers organizing and about how the labor movement works. The program offers hands-on organizing experience through campaign field work, moving workers to take action, winning changes at their workplace and in their communities.

Participants in the program will build skills in conversations with low-wage workers at home and in the workplace about the power of a union; identifying workplace leaders; mapping a workplace; mobilizing workers to take action; supporting and planning protests, demonstrations, and actions. The NOTP will afford new organizers the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to empower workers to take action in fighting for quality jobs. It is perfect program for someone with strong communication skills who is passionate about changing worker’s lives for the better.
