Provide technical leadership for the network team for projects and issue problem resolutionMaintain smooth operation of local area, worldwide, and virtual private networks (VPN). Plans, evaluates, designs, and coordinates installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication networkManage critical outage situations and act as liaison between the network team and other GDIT teams and the supported programsMaintain technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switchers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.May propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savingsPrepare or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructionsProvide regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systemsMay coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipmentMay design network or portion of network that includes selection and recommendation of hardware and software packages

Required Skills:

Expert hands-on working experience with as many of the following as possible: routers & switches(Cisco preferred), Cisco Nexus switch platforms, Cisco ASA Firewalls, F5 load balancers/application delivery controllers, Checkpoint Firewalls, and Palo Alto FirewallsHands-on working experience with as many of the following as possible: compute and storage technologies including; fabric interconnects, UCS, MDS switches, VNX arrays, and VMware deployments

Expert knowledge of:

TCP/IP and associated routing protocols such as (M)BGP, OSPF, etcMPLS protocols and services such as LDP/RSVP, L2 and L3 VPN technologies, etc.ISP circuit technologies and procedures

Strong knowledge of:

Storage area network (SAN) design and implementation including FC, FCoE, and iSCSIDISA STIG guidance and experience implementing DISA STIGs to secure DoD enclaves for the above technologiesDISA Security Requirements guide (SRG) & Functional Requirements Document (FRD) requirementsCloud technologies and architectures, including Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure

Knowledge of:

VMware based compute and storage technologies including: fabric interconnects, UCS B series, MDS switches, VNX arrays, and VMware deploymentsVMware ESXi 6.5 and later, vSphere Distributed Switches, vCenter, Platform Services Controllers (PSC), etc.Working knowledge of automation tools such as Python, Ansible, Git, Powershell etc.

 Required Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience plus minimum of 8-10 years’ experienceExperience developing and interpreting detailed installation instructions and supporting documentation to effect network design deploymentsExperience leading, managing, and overseeing network support teamsProven capability to lead engineering teams on complex deploymentsExcellent ability to provide clear and concise oral and written communication; capability to interface at multiple levels and successfully present technical informationExtensive experience with enterprise network design and sustainment, to include routing, switching, data center, and cloud technology areasExperience working within the parameters detailed via DISA STIGsCapacity to track, guide, and mentor multiple teams simultaneouslyStrict attention to detail; Adherence to rigid guidelines and processes; Ability to validate, update and maintain accurate recordsAbility to work in a virtual team environment as well as independentlyCisco router/switch configuration and troubleshooting

Travel:  This role may require occasional travel 2 to 4 times per year.

 

Preferred Experience:

CompTIA Security + certificationCisco CCNP certification required in Routing/Switching, Data Center, or Service Provider areasCurrent DOD Secret or Top Secret clearance
