As our Network Management System Developer, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the smoothoperation of our network by designing, implementing, testing and maintaining OperationalSupport Systems (OSS). Your role will be instrumental in optimizing networkperformance, enhancing efficiency, and ensuring a seamless customer experience.Main ResponsibilitiesDesign network management solutions to monitor and manage CarrierEthernet and IP services, ensuring optimal capacity, performance andreliabilityDefine configurations and notification data models using YANGDefine real-time network monitoring solutionsProgram network automation with gNMI/gNOI/NETCONF/RESTCONFDesign, Develop and maintain automated scripts and tools to verify NMS functionalityWork with vendors to implement new OSS/NMS solutionsReview and approve design documents, test strategies, plans, and scriptsMaintain accurate documentation of OSS/NMS requirements, configurations, processes, and proceduresResolve complex OSS/NMS implementation and network problems with cross-functional teamsEnforce security best practices to protect network systems and data integrityEducation and Experience RequiredBachelor’s in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field2-5 experience in a similar role.Proficient in Layer 2/3 protocols, YANG modeling, gRPC/gNMI/gNOIExperience designing network management systems using Layer 2/3 protocolsProgramming skills in modern C++, GNU C, Go, Python 3.xTDD and BDD test frameworksKnowledge of developing software in container hosted in Linux environment and microservicesKnowledge of Protobuf, XML, JSON IETF encoding, and template language (Jinja2)Good problem-solving, and communication skillsExperience with NMS products like Netcracker Digital OSS, ONAP, Ciena Blue Planet, AmdocsKnowledge in Protocols and Standards:Layer 3 protocols: IP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, SR-MPLSLayer 2 protocols: Ethernet, VLAN, STP, LACPMEF and TMF StandardsDecision Making and SupervisionThis role requires contributions as an individual and a team member.Working ConditionsHybrid workplace model with four days (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri) a week in the office.Occasional travel is anticipated.The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP)At Telesat, we take pride in being an equal opportunity employer that values equality in the workplace.
