Responsibilities

IT Network Manager

 

The Network Engineering Manager shall support GSA Enterprise Infrastructure and Platform Management services including managed hosting and unmanaged hosting (Platform-as-a-Service/Infrastructure-as-a-Service (PaaS/IaaS)), server installation, O/S loading, system hardening in accordance with Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) security requirements, installation of patches, application and system back-ups, and restoration. Performs management and support to include GSA’s physical and virtual infrastructure and platform technologies and solutions. Duties include, but not limited to:

Support a legacy architecture and be able to simultaneously convert and support existing and future Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) architectureManagement of software platforms running on-premise such as the vCloud Suite and a mixed Hyper-conveged (HCI) environment running vSAN and Nutanix converged storage Design, Operate, and maintain VRealize Automation (vRA) engine integrated with ServiceNow, Ansible and Jenkins to provide provisioning configurations, policy and governance managementMonitor Local Area Network (LAN) system and network performance, troubleshoot and resolve complex problems to ensure no disruption of servicesDrive technological innovation through regularly occurring research and technology assessments. Continually research new technologies and develop roadmaps for technology replacement. Responsible for the creation and maintenance off all relevant documentationTranslate technical and business requirements into Enterprise level designs, validate in a test lab environment, publish findings, and provide knowledge transfer internallyProvide technical leadership and serve as the technical point of contact for assigned projects. Participate in design sessions, assessment, analysis, and troubleshooting. Assist in design of practical and cost-effective solutions and services that meet customer requirements.Analyze and solve business or technical problems and effectively communicate to internal clients through all available mediums (verbal, listening, writing, and presenting).Assist with knowledge transfer to internal engineering and operational peers. Research new technologies, services and products and work with appropriate engineering teams to evaluate their applicabilityPerform Tier 3/Level III Level Operational Engineering and Management and provide advanced technical support and guidance for troubleshooting incidents. Coordinates with third-party vendors to resolve Tier 3 issues and establish relationships with vendors to facilitate the timely release and distribution of information on infrastructure product security issues and patchesCoordinates and manages technical pilot and production projects including scheduling, resource identification, and making recommendations based on testing results. Recommends procedures, controls and business continuity plans to mitigate risks and prevent recurring issues. Maintain and document managed assets, configuration items, and architecture and ensure that security procedures are implemented and enforcedMonitor and manage resource utilization and ensure appropriate capacity plans are utilized.Oversee and assist in maintaining monitoring and management systems.Develops and documents complex scripts to be utilized for automation of the virtual infrastructure and develop automation to replace/simplify daily operational tasksWork with Solution Designers, Application Owners, and Vendors to ensure optimal design and configuration of environments.In collaboration with solutions identification and engineering, support technology planning and provide recommendations for optimizing applications, infrastructure, tools, and support upgrades based on planning and analysis resultsUtilize AIOps to proactively evaluate, identify, and implement configurations, changes to existing configurations, and remediate known problems to enhance and maintain performanceEnsure services are delivered and supported according to agreed specs and stakeholders' expectationsPerform after hours and weekend support including incident resolution, systems monitoring, and change management.Review and Approve Timesheets and Expense Reports (ER) for timeliness and accuracy Supervise and conduct Performance Evaluations of assigned employees, identifying strengths, problem areas Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent related experience

It is required that the IT Network Manager have the following certifications: a. Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification. b. ITIL® Foundation or Practitioner v.4 certifications and the DevSecOps FoundationSM certification from the DevOps Institute.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

10 - 15 Years

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

This is a Senior Level Position. It is STRONGLY PREFERRED that the IT Network Manager have the following qualifications: a. At least 15 years’ experience of progressively greater authority and responsibility, in IT networking. b. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant information technology discipline. c. Demonstrated experience managing the voice, video and data networks of a broad and complex IT environment of similar size and scope. d. Demonstrated ability for quality oral and written communication relevant to IT networking for a broad and complex IT environment of similar size and scope.
