Senior Network Engineer
Role will be based in the Sterling, VA vicinity.
Responsibilities
The Network Engineer III will work with a team of network professionals to ensure the continuous operations of the corporate network infrastructure that supports many users across several sites in a stable, secure and scalable fashion.
Manage the corporate network infrastructure including network switches, routers, load balancers, firewalls and the management platforms for those systems. Keep the performance of the corporate network optimal and secure, perform upgrades and patching, monitor relevant network thresholds, capacity and latency, adjust configurations to optimize traffic flow. Work with Enterprise Security to maintain regulatory compliance (PCI and SOX) with network infrastructure components through vulnerability remediation, upgrades, configuration hardening and participate in recurring audits. Work with Corporate IT to manage integrated network components including VPN tunnels and remote access, branch office switching and routing, VOIP service, providing assistance where needed Manage relationships with Internet service providers including review recurring billing/invoicing, new orders, or changing circuit proposals. Work with the systems engineers to build new infrastructure, troubleshoot systems performance problems, network packet capture, tracing and analysis, load balancer support Architectural responsibilities for new technology and infrastructure to support new product development and corporate goals. SME for network design and architecture to support development innovation, security initiatives, and payments infrastructure upgrades Participates in on-call rotations to provide network engineering support Works with the team of network engineers on ticket request handling to ensure standards are adhered to and service quality is maintained.
This is a remote-based role with initial onsite work 2 to 3 days a week at the server center in Sterling, VA. Relocation assistance may be available.
Position requires occasional on-call hours during weekends/nights/holidays.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in network engineering to include experience with enterprise/datacenter load balancers, enterprise firewalls, corporate WiFi and WAN optimization solutions Minimum of two completed years of higher education and/or trade school with a focus on IT, or 5 years of comparable work experience. Excellent IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience in the application of IP protocols In-depth understanding of network design and security. Excellent communication, organization and project management skills Ability to work occasional on-call hours during nights /weekends / holidays as needed.
