Network Engineer

The network engineer is responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of the business's network infrastructure, which supports critical customer-facing applications across multiple international datacenters and cloud environments. This role requires strong communication skills, as the network engineer will serve as the primary point of contact between the network team and other internal business organizations for network support. The network engineer will also participate in network changes during maintenance windows and contribute to implementation and design projects as needed.

The company is located in Ashburn, VA and will remain remote, with occasional in office as needed.

What You Will Be Doing: Ensure stable and reliable network services, including access products, service networks, and the core network. Perform day-to-day network performance monitoring. Troubleshoot and analyze network faults; conduct hardware/software troubleshooting and repair. Implement configuration changes via change control systems and processes. Maintain network monitoring, analysis, and reporting tools. Install network hardware and software. Travel to the datacenter as needed. Participate in the weekly maintenance window at 3 AM ET on Tuesdays. Handle and escalate alerts by identifying and responding to issues on systems and networks, liaising with third-party suppliers, and managing escalations to resolution. Perform provisioning tasks, such as IP assignment, core network configuration, monitoring, and graphing, as well as managing leased lines. Support security policy enforcement by utilizing security solutions from various vendors, including Palo Alto and Cisco. Provision facilities by installing racks, setting up power, and installing ethernet, fiber, and console cabling, as well as remote power and KVM. Maintain technical documentation for Platform Operations, detailing processes and procedures used during normal operations. Develop knowledge and skills in network and system administration, with a focus on architecture and platforms. Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation. Required Skills & Experience: 5-8 years of experience with networking protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and vendor networking operating systems (NX-OS, IOS-XE, and JUNOS). Demonstrate strong initiative and the ability to work independently as a self-starter, while also thriving in a collaborative team environment. Professional-level certifications (CCNP/JNCIP, etc.) in any track such as routing and switching, datacenter, or security are preferred.
