The Role
As a Network and Systems Administrator, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. To support us delivering the next generation of Beyond Line-of-Sight Radio Frequency Communications solutions for a variety of national and international customers.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll manage the secure Local Area Network/Wide Area Network and Business Software systems. Including planning, developing, installing, configuring, and maintaining all network hardware, software, and communication links.

 

The management, maintenance, upgrade, and fault finding on essential Operational IT systems, Local Area Network/Wide Area Networks and peripheral equipment including software and security. Any patching of hardware/software including anti-virus and software updates and installation and troubleshooting of multiple Windows platforms. Owning and taking responsibility for new and existing projects to form part of the Configuration Control Board to manage the installation of new hardware and software to the network. Managing and maintaining all system build documentation and other technical records, whilst ensuring safe working practices are applied in accordance with Babcock Safety instructions.  Carrying out operational and maintenance work on transmitters, receivers and associated control equipment as part of the engineering team and supporting the engineering team in all operational and technical matters. Carrying out lone working duties at appropriate sites, in accordance with Babcock Health and Safety instructions. Please note that the successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role.

 

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based on site at Kinloss, Forres. You will be required to travel infrequently to other sites as and when required. There is also approximately 10 weeks per year on call.

 

Essential Experience of the Network and Systems Administrator

Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems and Cisco Switches and Routers. Basic workshop skills including hand and power tools. Comprehensive knowledge of current safe working practices and safety procedures.


Qualifications for the Network and Systems Administrator 

Engineer qualification e.g Higher National Diploma/Higher National Certificate/National Vocational Qualification Level 4 or equivalent. A full UK driving licence. Ability to maintain Security clearance to DV level.

 

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance for this role. However, the successful candidate will be eligible to start on Security Clearance (SC) security check but will need to apply for Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance on the first day
