TSES is currently seeking candidates for aNaval Nuclear Propulsion Systems Engineerbased in Goose Creek, SC.
The Naval Nuclear Propulsion Systems Engineer is a highly motivated, self-driven team player with the ability to perform in a fast-paced, start-up environment. The Systems Engineer will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) who provides the engineering staff with systems concept of operation including interactions between systems and how each system is trained. The Systems Engineer will conduct test and evaluation activities to verify and validate training system functionality, physical fidelity, performance, and contract requirements. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience with nuclear propulsion plant systems.The ideal candidate will have qualified as a Naval Nuclear Propulsion Plant Engineer. Experience as at Nuclear Power Training Unit is a plus. The Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program Systems Engineer reports to the Systems Engineering Manager/Engineering Director.
Responsibilities:
Provide engineering teams with knowledge of all system operations.Provide technical guidance to multidisciplinary design engineers to ensure proper level of realism and training value of high-fidelity complex training devices.Analyzedata, such as customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design modifications or new system applications.Review and evaluateexistingmechanical design drawings and specifications.Maintain a positive working relationship with the Navy.Maintain a positive working relationship with the customer, suppliers, and other stakeholders.Request technical data from the Navy and OEM manufacturers to support Training System upgrades.Lead system design reviews including requirements, preliminary design, and critical design.Lead Training System Hardware/Software Integration (HSI) including troubleshooting and fidelity evaluation.Develop and/or review Training System documentation including Test Procedures and Instructional Materials, and operational manuals.Conduct and or participate in Training System acceptance testing and sell-off.Knowledge of security requirements for protecting U-NNPI data is a plus.Participate in the preparation of technical and cost proposals and assist in shaping business strategy for new business capture within the Naval Nuclear Propulsion program.Textron Systems Electronic Systems (TSES), a Textron Inc. company delivers innovative high-fidelity simulation and training solutions to the commercial and military markets while providing superior technical support and customer service. ·Bachelor’s degree required in a STEM field
Five or more years of nuclear submarine propulsion system maintenance and engine room operation required.·Two or more years as the team trainer operator for NPTU are preferred.
·Two or more years as a classroom instructor for the NNPP may be accepted in lieu of team trainer operator.
·Subject Matter Expertise in the operation and maintenance of naval nuclear propulsion system components.
System test or quality control experience preferredDemonstrated ability to trace requirements to instructional procedures desirable.Personal computer skills (e.g., word processing, spread sheet, presentation graphics)Effective written and oral communication skillsEstablished leadership skillsEffective ability to organize and prioritize tasksAbility to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple contingencies requiring attentionAbility to work independently as well as collaborativelyMust be able to obtain a SECRET Security Clearance
15-25% travel required depending on the phase of the contract
