National Stop Loss Operations Manager

General Description: Responsible for driving operational best practices and fundamental process improvement across our Employee Benefits (EB) insurance operations. Work in conjunction with the EB National Director of Operations. Coordinate with national and regional EB practice and operational leaders, as well as available resources, to deliver and enhance employee benefits services and value propositions across the organization.

Responsibilities:

Assist with developing the Stop Loss Marketing Practice.  Lead ongoing transition to standard best practice service model in all regions, including: Define and implement clear and efficient work processes, standard deliverables, and outcomes reporting.  Direct collaborative work across internal, external, regional, and national teams.  Report and forecast contingent and supplemental revenue in collaboration with national resources and regional leadership. Promote quality assurance peer review. Ensure accuracy and completeness of regional marketing deliverables.  Coordinate with regional technical resources. Includes Analytics teams, Sales Underwriters, Ancillary marketing desks, and others as needed. Develop, promote, and use best practices for leveraging standard technology platforms and tools.  Define, document, and operationalize stop loss marketing best practices. Implement in regions via collaboration with regional leadership, training, and on-going mentorship. Develop a stop loss specific training program. Build a community of regional stop loss subject matter experts.  Partner with leadership to identify, develop, and execute initiatives through project management and coordination of resources.  Participate in the analysis, review, and development of panel carriers.  Support vendor management activities and promote carrier/USI collaboration opportunities. Collect, extract, manipulate, and analyze data from multiple benefits/agency management systems.  Monitor, manage, and report on the following: New business and renewal activity.  Up-to-date volume and carrier movement analysis. Bonus qualification levels by carrier for carrier bonus programs for the region. Includes total premium dollars, new business growth, and persistency.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

5+ years in positions of increasing responsibility in Employee Benefit Brokerage Practices.  High School Graduate or equivalent required. College degree preferred. Strong working knowledge of broker compensation structures with stop loss and ancillary carriers.  Resourceful, persuasive, and effective leader. Familiar with benefit products, services, competitive offerings, market needs, and industry trends. Excellent organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills. Effective communication skills and work ethic.  Strong analytical skills and the ability to read and interpret benefit related data. Ability to adapt quickly to changes in systems, procedures, processes, and policies. Comfortable with internet-based programs and Microsoft Office products. Knowledge of BenefitPoint preferred, but not required.  20% or more travel expected.

Physical Demands:Work is performed in a climate-controlled office environment with minimal noise and limited to no exposure to chemicals or toxins. Employees operate office equipment including telephone - headset, computer, computer monitors, keyboard, mouse, copier, scanner, and mail machine. Physical tasks of job include walking, sitting, standing, and bending.
