**The Opportunity**
The Business Development Sr. Strategist within Water, will develop solutions to new and existing clients and be responsible for planning and executing sales strategies to drive business growth.Works with MD in region to help guide winning strategies for the region including client plans and identifying the key pursuits. Engaged actively in the go no go decisions and helps to drive the highest ROI for the business.Works with CDs, PMs, Business Lines and SMEs as well as the sales and marketing team to drive winning pursuits. Uses Miller Heiman sales process and tools to ensure best practices and increased probability for winning work.
**The Team**
**Black & Veatch’s Governments & Communities** focuses on specific infrastructure needs of municipalities, state and local governments, and specialized physical and digital infrastructure solutions for government and federal agencies. **Key Responsibilities**
+ Prospect for potential leads within target accounts and uncover service needs within those prospects.
+ Ability to identify and pursue to closure account prospects.
+ Partner with relevant team members to create winning proposals.
+ Coordinate opportunities from prospect through to engagement.
+ Development and cultivation of a well-qualified sales pipeline using automated customer relationship management tools (e.g. Microsoft CRM.)
+ Gain and share understanding of prospect’s organization, processes, business strategies, product or service offerings and decision-making structures.
+ Work collaboratively with the company’s resources to define the approach and strategy for achieving client requirements.
+ Develop effective partnerships that align with the business strategy for specific solutions.
+ •Effectively negotiate with multiple levels of executive management within prospective client organizations.
+ Ability to organize and execute effective public speaking and written media with practice related organizations within the industry.
+ Use in-depth knowledge and insight of key competitors to create compelling reasons for prospective clients to engage with the company.
+ Communicate the status of opportunities, clearly articulate next steps and discuss potential risks with the wider sales and account management team in weekly meeting.
**Management Responsibilities**
Supervises work of others. Responsible for hiring, discipline, and pay administration of their subordinates.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Previous proven external, customer sales success.
+ Sales and Marketing campaign development skills.
+ Strong knowledge and understanding of utilities industry; knowledge of industry business drivers and motivators.
+ Team player.

**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
+ 15+ years experience in business development roles.
