Position: National Events & Marketing Coordinator

Job Type: Full Time

Schedule: Monday-Friday 

Language Requirements: English

Location and Working Conditions: Hybrid (incumbent is based out of our Vaughan, ON facility)

Annual salary: $54,100 - $59,700

Purpose:

The National Events & Marketing Coordinator plays a crucial role in generating revenue by organizing and executing trade shows, events, and marketing publications. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, Branding & Communications, the position focuses on optimizing event planning processes to increase revenue and profitability, ensuring exceptional execution to enhance participant satisfaction. The role will also encompass the planning and executing of customer-facing publications, delivering accurately and on-time, while offering improved ways to drive revenue through advertising. This role will work cross-departmentally for collaborative and fresh perspectives on ways to improve customer experience and drive revenue.

Critical tasks to this role include effectively planning, support selling and executing two major industry trade shows and a dedicated UNFI show, along with other events throughout the year. In addition, this role will be responsible for weekly communication to our customers, quarterly catalogues, prebook publications and specialty books. 

Collaborating closely with other associates on the marketing team, this role will be responsible for making recommendations for process improvement, implement changes to process and contribute to a positive culture.

Job Responsibilities:

Event Coordination

Creates and follows detailed critical path for each event and ensures deadlines are met. Collaborates with 3rd party suppliers to execute pavilion build and improvements. Makes sound budget recommendations by managing the event P&L and reporting progress to Director of Marketing. Works closely with the event manager to execute flawlessly hitting key revenue milestones. Consistently looks for new ways to innovate and differentiate UNFI shows in the industry. Collaborates with CHFA and other industry and media companies to maximize return for UNFI.

Quarterly Catalogues

Manages critical path and cross-functional deliverables by ensuring contributors meet deadlines. Works with the broad Supplier Services department to collect pricing and product listings. Ideates and implements improvements for elevated reader experience. Works with Graphic Designer to create themes and delivers on time.

Pre-book publications

Manages critical path and ensures all contributors process deadlines. Works with the broad Supplier Services department to collect pricing and product listings. Ideates ways to improve the prebook process with cross-functional teams for greater revenue generation. Works with Graphic Designer to create themes and content structure. Executes 4-5 publications annually.

Weekly Customer Email (FreshlyPicked)

Manages and execute the weekly customer email process to deliver weekly bulletins to independent customers. Tracks open rates and determines ways to continue to streamline process while delivering an excellent reading experience. Creates repository of NPA’s for customer and cross functional use. Delivers on time weekly. Supports other communications as required

Specialty Books

Develops and manages critical path for hitting publication deadline. Manages and execute additional specialty book requirements as needed.

Admin

Support marketing director and the team with administrative tasks such as creating power point slides, hosting monthly meetings (career over coffee, town halls), etc. Performs other job duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education/ Certifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in marketing, business, or event planning or an equivalent combination of training and experience 

Experience:

3+ years experience in event coordination and planning, marketing coordinator and/or graphic design, with an emphasis on publications.  Proven success in detailed planning, always meeting deadlines, achieving revenue targets, and ideating newness. Ability to design using InDesign, Illustrator and Canva. Experience working with cross-functional teams and building relationships with external vendors, customers and suppliers.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Superior communications skills. Advanced knowledge/proficiency in InDesign. Excellent organization and planning mind-set. Ability to track projects in detail to ensure accurate execution, budgeting and invoicing.   Smart business acumen, with the ability to ‘see the big picture’ and make sound recommendations.   Ability to manage peers and leadership to ensure collaboration and on-time delivery. Proficiency in MS Office including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
