National Accounts Manager

The National Account Manager Representative (NAM) is responsible for identifying, developing and enhancing both new and existing strategic relationships with national accounts for Behr/Kilz products and services to professional account channels. This position creates a pipeline and cross-functionally partners with the broader team to develop and execute specific strategies to achieve customer satisfaction, revenue, and profitability. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

With direction from corporate and the VP/Director, supports the deployment, adoption and application of Behr’s annual Strategic Deployment Plan (SDP)  

Develop strategic market plan for national account customers, meet or exceed defined segment sales goals, metrics, and objectives.  

Utilize a strategic and consultative sales approach to understand, develop and deliver value-added business solutions for one or more the following segments: 

Property Management Residential/Commercial 

Commercial 

Hospitality 

Healthcare 

HOA 

Single Family Rental (SFR) and Build for Rent (BFR) 

Government/Education  

Log quality information from the completed activities into (CRM) Salesforce. Create opportunities and works with the field sales team for support-handoff of projects to appropriate Rep, 

Conduct and or Manage trade shows, information-only presentations, seminars, and other efforts to support trade associations.  

Provide service and product knowledge to the specified channel, gathering and using the information on the customer’s business processes, critical success factors, and competitive standing. 

Proactively communicate important business issues and opportunities to appropriate departments (Sales, Marketing, Distribution, Customer Service, etc.) and management. 

Proficient knowledge of our products, techniques, and services to ensure product recommendations and customer orders meet all specifications.  

Awareness of product assortment and inventory levels needed to support customer demand.  

Expedite the resolution of customer problems/complaints.  

Collaborate with all appropriate departments (Sales, Marketing, Distribution, Customer Service, etc.) to meet and exceed sales goals and provide feedback as required.  

 

Education and/or Experience 

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent experience in a related field.  

5 plus years of related sales and/or customer service experience and/or training 

3 plus years of National Account Management experience/or equivalent. 

Experience with negotiating and fulfilling national customer contracts 

 

Certificates, License, Registrations or Professional Designations 

Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, meet and maintain the Company motor vehicle policy. 

 

Other Requirements 

Willingness to travel up to 70%.  

Ability to legally work without sponsorship for employment visa status.  

Continuous self-development to stay current with competitive intelligence in the industry 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  

Manage the corporate credit card, motor vehicle and expense reporting according to company policy.  

Performs other duties as required.  

 

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities 

Expert in interacting with all customer types and assessing customer needs.  

Capable of retaining and communicating features and benefits of company products.  

Strong selling, negotiation, problem-solving, critical thinking, networking and relationship-building skills.  

Competence to work effectively across functions to achieve desired customer satisfaction goals.  

Experience in the construction trade and/or architectural coatings is preferred.  

Ability to adapt approach and style to achieve account objectives. 

Strong presentation skills, adaptability to various training environments, and the ability to leverage multiple training techniques and tools.  

Ability to work independently and excel in a team environment. 

 

Computer Skills 

Proficient knowledge of MSA Office Suites and/or IOS software applications related to job functions.  

Sales Force/CRM knowledge 

Proficient in using a computer application to manage large amounts of information, including creating and editing simple databases, inputting data, retrieving specific records, and crafting reports to communicate the actions needed to improve performance relative to the goals of the system and strategy 

 

Language Skills 

English (speak, read, and write) 

Ability to speak the prevalent second language in certain geographic regions may be preferred. 

 

Mathematical Skills 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.   

 

Physical Demands 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee uses his/her hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear. The employee uses computer or telephone equipment. Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision and distance vision. Must be able to travel by plane and automobile. Ability to travel daily and/or overnight. 

 

Work Environment 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee rarely is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
