As a Music Therapy Fellow, you will assess and meaningfully interact with infants, children, youth, adults and families by providing music therapy activities for individuals and groups at UCLA Health.
You will:
Creates and maintain therapeutic developmentally appropriate environments for infants, children, youth, adults and families. Provide developmentally appropriate music as a primary tool in assessing and meeting psychosocial needs. Interpret the patient’s perception of his/her diagnosis and treatment as revealed through music and other means of communication both verbal and non-verbal. Demonstrate, explain and/or provides stress reduction techniques to facilitate adaptive coping, matching developmental level, emotional state, situation and stressor. Provide emotional support during identified stress points and utilizes music therapy techniques to facilitate adaptive coping for patients and family members. Uses music therapy as a diagnostic and treatment tool. Advocates on behalf of patient to other hospital staff as necessary so that the best environment for positive coping is provided.
Salary range: $30 hourly
Contract may convert to career.
