Your Opportunity

Our office in Irvine, CA is seeking a highly motivated Municipal Project Engineer to become part of our dynamic team of public works focused engineers.

The role of Municipal Project Engineer is to work collaboratively and interdependently as a team member on a wide range of transportation related public works projects under the guidance of a Project Manager.  Our Irvine Public Works team also works with and supports projects from other disciplines in the local area and is part of a team that works on projects across the western US.

As a Municipal Project Engineer, you will perform a variety of tasks on various types of roadway and highway safety and capacity enhancement improvement projects such as widening, intersections, rehabilitations, median improvements, and bikeway / complete streets. The projects that a Municipal Project Engineer may be assigned to may be broad, varied, and diverse in scope. Your Key Responsibilities
Leading the technical design of roadway improvement projects. This includes roadway geometric design; precise grading of curb ramps, driveways, and cross gutters; design of offsite improvements; and providing the design for impacted utility and drainage improvements. Familiarity with the preparation of signing and striping plans, traffic signal improvement plans, and traffic control plans is also desirable.
Leading the improvement plan and development efforts. 
Providing quantity take-offs and engineering estimates.
Preparing specifications based on the Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction (SSPWC) format.  
Preparing geometric analysis and calculations in support of designs and establish design criteria, methods, practices, and procedures.
Reviewing plans for conformance with standards.
Collaborating and checking the work of design staff.
Leading utility coordination efforts.
Participating and assisting with Client and project team coordination.
Coordination with regulatory agencies through the plan approval process.
Providing construction support services, including RFI responses, submittal reviews, and field coordination

Your Capabilities and Credentials
Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D. Familiarity with MicroStation is a plus.
Familiarity with AASHTO, Caltrans, MUTCD, and various local agency standards.
Possess excellent time-management skills and the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
Ability to discuss and deliver on task assignment deliverables, schedule, and budget targets.
Ability to coordinate and collaborate with others to deliver accurate and complete deliverables.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Self-starter who can work independently and with a team
Possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record. 
Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related degree.
Engineer in Training (EIT) Required. California Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is preferred.
Minimum 5 years related work experience.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
