Municipal Operations Team Leader - Mechanical (12 Months)

POSITION SUMMARY
The Operations Team Leader is responsible for working with the cross functional operations team to develop and supervise operational metrics, lead problem solving activities when metrics are not meeting goals, implement and execute effective daily management. The Team Leader will lead Production Team Members by hiring and training new associates, coaching and mentoring, and monitoring/appraising individual performance!
ACCOUNTABILITIES
· Performs people leader functions including hiring, training, performance reviews, and performance management. Coaches and mentors team members.
· Execute operational objectives and work plans, and delegate assignments to associates. Handle daily scheduling and adjustments.
· Ensure Cell setup and production readiness on a daily basis and throughout the day
· Manage the flow of material into, within and out of the cell, ensuring continuous flow (right amount of materials, at right time, in right place)
· Supervise material put away and detrashing of cell
· First point of contact for issues raised in production cells and value stream:
o Parts shortage
o Quality issues
o Mfg Input issues (dwg, BOM)
o Issues with production equipment, tools or supporting equipment
· Backfill for assembly resource as required
· Lead trainer for production processes (incl. EH&S)
· Perform maintenance as per TPM plan

· Prioritize problems for solutions based on highest impact and clearly articulate the problems and potential solutions to leader and across relevant stakeholders.

· Understand end user needs and seek information and identify opportunities to improve internal processes.
· Creates a collaborative environment where people are recognized for their wins and takes accountability of any failures.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Engineering Technician or Technologist or equivalent experience
· Minimum of 3 years working experience in a manufacturing facility
· Technical College Diploma / University Degree or equivalent experience required
· 5+ years of proven experience in a production and/or operations environment
· Minimum 1-year experience in management or leadership preferred
· Strong Microsoft Office/MS Excel skills with the ability to analyze relevant data and key business metrics for problem-solving and decision-making required
· Should be self-motivated and ready to take the challenge of new project and work assignment.
· Display discipline and certain logical steps towards problem solving process.
· Demonstrate attention to details.
· VES practitioner – flow, 5S, standard work, PSP, daily management will be an asset.
· Working knowledge of Electrical Control Panels – Applicable for Electrical Assembly lead
· Familiar with UL-508A standard - Applicable for Electrical Assembly lead
· Knowledge of LN ERP will be an asset.
· Forklift operator license will be an asset.
· Crane operator license will be an asset.
· Trojan Product knowledge will be an asset.
