Job Description

Telemundo NBC Universal’s Owned Television station in Houston, Texas, KTMD TV, is looking for an Anchor/Multimedia Journalist:

Perform on-air anchor responsibilities for designated Telemundo Houston newscasts or program across KTMD’s multiple platforms.Confident and adaptable when improvising live on air, with the ability to think quickly, maintain composure, and communicate clearly in dynamic or breaking news situations.Experienced in moderating roundtable discussions and leading panel conversations, ensuring smooth flow, balanced participation, and engaging dialogue on complex topics.Deep knowledge of local, national, and international affairs, with the ability to analyze and explain complex topics clearly and objectively, without introducing personal bias or editorializing.Responsible for producing their own editorial segments, including researching, verifying, and organizing content to be discussed during the newscast, aligning with the show's journalistic standards and style.Contribute story ideas for key series pieces for daily news programs. Generate story ideas, research and set up the content and interviews.Prepare and/or assemble, and present story content in a fair, accurate and unbiased manner.

Will shoot, write & edit stories/packages as needed. Experience in MMJ story gathering preferred.

Brings an established network of contacts and sources that can be leveraged for timely, relevant, and exclusive interviews or expert insights.Proactive in developing original, interactive segments and multimedia content, tailored for both on-air presentation and engagement across digital and social media platforms.Collaborative mindset and willingness to work closely with the newscast’s producer, contributing ideas, aligning on editorial direction, and ensuring smooth integration of individual segments into the overall show.Open to operating or learning to operate field cameras, with the flexibility to shoot their own footage when needed, especially in fast-moving or solo assignments.Participate in station-sponsored and philanthropic events and all assigned special promotions projects.
