Westinghouse is looking for a Multi-Skilled technician for a long term position at the Catawba Nuclear Power Plant, located in York, SC. This is a local hire position so there will be no relocation fees, nor pay perdiem. In this position you will be responsible for providing technical assistance and hands-on support in activities at the assigned site in support of contract requirements per the clients request.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Coordinate support across work groups with multiple levels of the organization Equipment operation to include forklift, tractors, lawn maintenance equipment, be prepared to obtain additional quals as requested by client Handle project documentation. Perform other duties as assigned, including escorting, low level facilities maintenance task, vegetation management support Perform all job duties safely according to job requirement. Identify safety equipment on specific piece of equipment. Read and use operator’s manual. Identify components and controls of machine. Perform daily service and maintenance of machine. Demonstrate proper use and interpretation of hand signals. Perform basic rigging operations. Perform craft related math. Keep work area clean, good housekeeping, and support both general housekeeping and industrial cleaning as assigned. Operate trash collections and site recycling program from collection through preparation for shipment. Participate in pre-job briefs. Pick up and removal of trash, ice snow, and other activities as needed. Protect the safety of others by using properly labeled chemicals

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment as well as an industrial environment observing employees, their progress with assigned work, and interfacing with both employees and client employees with a moderate to high noise level. The employee is required to don the appropriate personal protective equipment while traversing an industrial environment requiring various degrees of protection.

An ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or GED. One (1) to two (2) years of experience in various technical fields is preferred but not required. Must be able to obtain and maintain unescorted nuclear access. Ideal candidate must be able to effectively work with a variety of personnel to include client external customers and internal personnel. A strong sense of urgency in support of providing best in class customer service and excellent verbal and written communications skills to all levels of an organization is required. Proven ability to demonstrate a high level of ethical behavior, integrity and trust. Knowledge of Westinghouse Energy processes and procedures and utilization of developed tools to most effectively manage work is essential. Must actively demonstrate the Westinghouse company values and support the Westinghouse Ethics and Standards. Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a working knowledge of Westinghouse and client technical manuals and procedures. May be subject to personnel call out as required in support of nuclear station emergent work. Must be available to work overtime, to include shift work, weekends, and holidays as needed. Must be able to pass all background and screening requirements for the position, to include drug and/or alcohol screening, as well as Westinghouse and client specific training and qualifications as required.
