Become a **maker of possible** with us. **Summary of Position with General Responsibilities:** Responsible for assuring that all materials, equipment, supplies and services needed for production and facilities operation be acquired on a timely basis following company polices and procedures. **Essential Job Functions:** + Adheres and performs according to SOP’s and polices the purchasing functions + Ensures availability of components, materials, equipment, supplies and order to support the production process + Maintains good communication with vendors and department supervisors to assure timely delivery of materials + Will be responsible to establish a good follow-up system for all of the above tasks + Executes for the procurement of all indirect material and services of high quality, on a timely basis and at the lowest total cost possible for all manufacturing divisions and support departments + Searches continuously for improved and/or less costly material and supplies. Recommends to Engineering and Production departments new or different materials and revised designed, that are of better quality or greater procurability or which can be obtained at lower cost progressive purchase techniques and methods + Advices other departments of any changes in prices, procedures or restrictions on materials, which prohibit purchases. Also, keep interested departments advised with respect to lead-time required to obtain critical materials + Works with engineering standards and Process Improvement group for new designs, material or supplies + Visits vendor plants to evaluate facility and capability in coordination with Quality Control and Engineering Departments + Corresponds tactfully with sources or potential sources of supplies to overcome any misunderstanding, complains, etc., or to secure further pertinent information regarding purchase order + Reviews account payable discrepancies, which the Accounts Payable Department refers for approval, particularly where the price or other item does not agree with the purchased order + Negotiates vendor rejections and advises vendor of reason for reject and cost incurred as a result of defective material and when necessary, secures needed documents to return rejected materials + Uses good judgment in consulting with he/she superiors on all matters in whish he/she is uncertain of the proper applications of company polices regardless of the amount of money involved + Ensures that all contracts related to services complies with corporate standards and Bard PR procedures + Assures is trained before performing + Uses the required clothes, personal and security protective equipment according to the requirements of its operation + Complies with the cGMP’s, Quality Standards and established policies and/or procedures + Executes other duties assigned by the supervisor **Basic Qualifications:** + Must be able to analyze a variety of technical problems arising form diversified purchasing. Must possess mature judgment and initiative to make sound decisions, recommendations, and operate independently + Ability to understand blueprints and be familiar with machine shop practices and costs + Must be bilingual (English/Spanish) and must have good communication skills both oral and written + Teamwork oriented. **Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge:** + Experience in JDE desirable. **Education and/or Experience:** + Bachelor Degree in Business Administration + Experience in industrial purchasing functions desirable **Physical Demands:** See PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT table. **Work Environment:** + Hours of operation are flexible and vary depending on job requirements. Typical workweek is 40 hours with additional/variable hours for specific work periods and projects. Specific works days and hours are flexible and may change with advance notice + The nature of the work requires occasional exposure to chemicals and noise.
