MRI Technician (Part-Time/Contractual C1)

University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is currently seeking multiple contractual MRI Technicians to join Department of Diagnostic Radiology. Flexibility in work schedule including working on some weekends with appropriate time off during weekdays. Position will be contractual as needed


PRIMARY DUTIES

Operate Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanners to obtain subject image scans for human and/or
animal research, perform research MRI scanning protocols, and coordinate applications of research studies
that involve internal scanning techniques. Responsible for the optimal performance and operation of the MRI
scanner as well as ensuring the safety of all users, clients, and participants.Assist in the development and perform regular quality assurance and quality control procedures.Manage and provide administrative responsibility of the MRI suite including maintenance related of
mechanical, electrical, and computer equipment.Assist researchers in performing research procedures on participants by operating MRI scanner.Develop and maintain safety procedures and provide related safety training to faculty, staff, and students.Ensure that MRI data collection is of the highest quality and is properly archived in MRI database.Act as liaison with MRI manufacturer related to issues concerning maintenance, training, and quality control.Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Associate's degree, preferably in MRI technology or radiologic technology, and successful completion of an accredited MRI certification
program.Two (2) years of related clinical research experience, preferably in MRI.Certified MRI Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) and/or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT). Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or CPR licensure preferred. Active State of Maryland Radiographer licensure preferred.May require training related to occupational safety and health, environmental compliance, shipping of hazardous materials and/or ionizing radiation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Knowledge of position requirements. Knowledge of all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws. Skillin effective use of applicable technology/systems. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and writtenthoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently. HIRING RANGE: $46.51 per hour (Commensurate with education and experience)
