Purpose of Role

The Advertising Sales Team Lead will be responsible to lead a team who will identify, prospect, and deliver on all advertising opportunities with all retail advertisers. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent sales skills and a deep understanding of the digital advertising landscape.

This position reports to the Head of Retail for Mr D.

Your responsibilities will include:

Oversee and manage the advertising business across Mr D's retail verticals Create and manage a targeted sales plan to deliver against budget objectives Manage strategic account relationships Lead a team of account managers and digital campaign specialists to deliver against the sales plan Conduct strategic and market analysis of the online advertising sector in South Africa to identify growth opportunities Analyze the performance of advertising assets and create comprehensive reports to inform business decisions Collaborate with the Product team to build and manage all digital advertising inventory Develop insights into trends and opportunities within Mr D’s advertising business to drive growth and innovation Provide data-driven insights to support key client meetings and enhance client relationships Translate business questions into functional analyses to test theories and provide actionable insights Conduct analytical support for advertising and related teams to generate valuable insights into campaign performance Drive report automation for ongoing analysis and decision-making Provide support in budget planning and execution

Skills & Attributes required:

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to use data to inform decisions Logical and solutions-oriented individual, motivated by building workable solutions Self-motivated with a can-do attitude and strong prioritization skills Exceptional attention to detail and ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders, including Senior Management Strong aptitude for learning new systems and technologies Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to create compelling narratives around data Self-guided learner, passionate about data, and eager to develop and enhance analytical skills Ability to work independently, productively, and proactively, following through on all responsibilities to bring projects to a successful conclusion Ability to translate a retail media budget into a sales strategy and operational plan High-energy individual with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment Highly organized and efficient, with the ability to meet tight deadlines

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field 4 years experience in selling advertising Proven track record of success in advertising sales, preferably in digital or mobile advertising Leadership of a target-driven team Strong understanding of the digital advertising ecosystem, including programmatic advertising, display ads, and mobile marketing Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently as well as part of a team Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to drive decision-making
