As the Motor Mechanic Surface, you will be responsible for maintaining vehicles to an agreed standard in the area of responsibility and this role has a 2.9.2 appointment in terms of the MHSA, Act of 1996.

Job Description

Your day-to-day duties will include:

Effective control of shaft systems including underground & surface conveying systems:

Attend and conduct Safety meeting and participate in Risk assessments.Ensure that material, spares and equipment are available as required.Exercise judgment with regards to replacement of components.Plan sequence execution of work.Report possible defects and plan the action needed to rectify the risk or defect.Make informed technical decisions.Stop the operation if the working conditions are unsafe.Record results of all legal examinations in the appropriate format.Complete job cards and description of work and spares used (PM’s).Perform work to the required standards and specifications.Apply appropriate tools to complete tasks.

This role is in the Engineering Department at a C2 level reporting to the Mechanical Foreman.

QualificationsGrade 12 or Technical Trade Specific N3Diesel Mechanic/ Motor Mechanic Trade CertificateBasic Computer LiteracyCode 8 driver’s license

To be successful, you will have the following experience:

At least 2 to 3 years’ experience as an artisan in the relevant industry
