Leidos’ Defense Systems Land Systems is seeking a Modeling and Simulation Software Architect to join our team…with the ability and experience to work missile defense projects within the BMD Simulations and Analysis Portfolio. In this role the successful candidate will be responsible for provide technical leadership for the system’s development including identifying technical issues and coordinating across the MASC-F program to resolve these issues, coordinating with associate contractors developing the applications, reporting status at meetings, and working closely with the test and integration team. As well, Collaborate with the MDA to ensure requirements and design considerations are managed and provide software guidance to the agile development teams

The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, be a strong team player, and can establish solid working relationships with peers and technical staff members within the program.

Primary Responsibilities

Collaborate with other professionals to determine functional and non-functional requirements for new software or applicationsWork with the Chief Architect and deputy to ensure an integrated system solution is planned and architected. Create and update SysML diagrams for the RepBox architecture.Evaluates existing and emerging technologies to enable system/software architecture alternatives to address functional/non-functional product needs to include cost, schedule, risk, and supportability for enterprise applications.Develop high-level product specifications with attention to system integration and extensibilityCommunicate all concepts related to overall system/software architecture to multiple product development teamsRequires ability to communicate with leadership (internally or client) regarding matters of software architecture and workflows.Oversee progress of software development team to ensure consistency with agreed upon system/software architecture

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with 8 -12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6-10 years of prior relevant experienceExperience with C++ software developmentKnowledge and experience with software architectures and complex systems to support product functional / non-function requirementsSystem Design Artifacts Generation / Software DesignArtifacts Generation in UML/SySML using Enterprise Architect/Cameo or similar tool to create Class Diagrams, Sequence of Events Diagrams, and Activity Diagrams and their corresponding SySML diagramsExperience with GitLab/Git for software configuration managementExperience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux OSStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create and deliver presentationsMust be a US citizen possess and be able to maintain an active secret clearanceFull time onsite supportMust be a resident of the North Alabama area.

Knowledge of Agile methodologies, such as the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), and application of the Agile methodologies within a technical/engineering environmentRequirements generation and system interface developmentUML design documentationXML technologies for configuration and run-time messaging, including schema (XSD) and transforms (XSLT)Object Oriented (OO) DesignSystem Requirements decompositionSystem Design Documents decompositionExperience developing and/or supporting CI/CD pipelines (Ansible, Jenkins)Experience with Python or Java and user interfacesFamiliarity with Agility - issue tracking and agile project management, or similar toolExperience with Multi-core and multi-threaded programmingRelevant DoD and/or Industry work experience in Missile DefenseOriginal Posting:April 18, 2025

Pay Range:Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
