Introduction to team

Travel is back, and Expedia's Media Solutions group is looking for a Software Development Engineers to help build the world's best travel advertising platform. Expedia's Media Solutions group enables hotels, airlines, and other travel providers to reach travel shoppers with helpful and relevant travel products. We have revolutionized the way brands reach and connect with online travel consumers, and we have emerged as the leader in online travel advertising. Our travel advertising platform is evolving quickly, and we need a Software Development Engineers to help design, build and deliver the next generation platform.

As a Software Development Engineer, you will solve complex technology problems in a fast-paced agile environment, constantly learning and adapting to rapidly evolving customer needs. You will collaborate with other engineers and business owners to build innovative solutions for travel advertisers enabling them to use Expedia's network of leading travel brands and global sites. With a growing product portfolio offering a multitude of advertising and sponsorship opportunities, our Media Solutions team at Expedia has created a viable marketing platform for advertising partners to reach the 112 million worldwide monthly unique visitors that visit Expedia Group sites.


In this role, you will:

Collaborate with peers across teams to understand dependencies and solve problems

Continuously seek to improve technical skills and share knowledge with the team

Demonstrate expertise in mobile technologies and software design principles

Develop and test complex software applications to meet design requirements

Write clean, maintainable, optimized code following best practices

Lead code reviews and drive architectural decisions to ensure high-quality solutions

Engineer scalable, fault-tolerant software for ads across Expedia Group pages

Implement solutions for a consistent experience across platforms, focusing on Android

Partner with Product leaders, Designers, and engineers to innovate best-in-class solutions

Advocate for engineering excellence, usability, and quality across systems

Experience and qualifications:

4+ years of experience as a software engineer, preferably in e-commerce

1+ year of experience in Digital Advertising Technology preferred

Extensive knowledge of Android technologies such as Jetpack, Jetpack Compose, Java, Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Flow, GraphQL, and Android Studio

Experience developing backend services - RESTful APIs, GraphQL

Experience with Mobile Architecture patterns like MVP & MVVM

Experience working with A/B testing, Event frameworks

Confident in driving technical discussions and decisions across functional teams and organizations

Ability to collaborate and get results cross-team, in a sophisticated working environment

Experience developing in AWS or similar cloud platforms. Preferred: S3, ECS/Docker, AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, CloudFormation

Strong verbal and written communication skills

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $137,500.00 to $192,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $220,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
