Job Summary:
In accordance with agency Mission, Vision, Values, and Goals, provides services to persons experiencing mental health crises. The Mobile Crisis Specialist II is on-call, mobile, and works as a team member with other staff within the Crisis department to provide face-to-face crisis assessments or telephone crisis interventions when deemed appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide on-call/mobile coverage determined by your work schedule. Will be available for consultation to members of the mobile crisis team when support is requested.Receive calls from the ACI Crisis Line or Crisis Services Leadership and conduct telephone or face-to-face assessments when requested.Communicate with other Crisis Team staff members when backup is needed and access necessary community or ACI resources when appropriate.Assess for risk and coordinate the individual’s needs during crises: facilitate access to appropriate crisis services, assist with coordinating hospitalization for individuals when appropriate, or assist with connecting with other appropriate resources. Complete a safety plan with individuals as necessary.Understand how to work with area law enforcement and emergency medical personnel to benefit the individual and their families.Maintain good communication with both internal programs and external community partners to provide access and/or referrals to services as needed.Have knowledge of signs and symptoms of mental illness in children and adults to effectively serve individuals in crisis.Navigate the legal system regarding custody and guardianship issues with children and families to provide the best care in the least restrictive environment.Have knowledge of the involuntary commitment process.Maintain proper and timely documentation to ensure compliance and/or reporting to DMH, BBH, and other concerned entities.Follow all agency policies and procedures, including emergency and corporate compliance policies and procedures 100% of the time.Attend scheduled conference calls, webinars, face-to-face meetings/trainings, and individual and group supervision.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Special skills: knowledge and skills in assessing, triaging, and treating suicidality; crisis intervention; effective oral and written communication skills; problem-solving, decision-making, clinical judgment; time management; and computer/electronic medical record knowledge.Ability to work independently.Establish effective relationships via telephone and face-to-face contacts.Adaptability in performing effectively in the face of changing job demands.Initiative in taking necessary and appropriate action on one’s own.Ability to follow directions and accept supervision.

Experience and Education Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in a behavioral health or related field, completed a practicum, or have one (1) year of experience in a behavioral health field.CPR/First Aid and CPI certified.Prior to being removed from probationary status, must demonstrate competencies in the required areas of crisis intervention, safety and legal issues, and working with law enforcement.

Supervisory Requirements:

Communicate the strategic direction of the organization and encourage participation by all team members.Provide leadership and guidance to all aspects of the department.Take an active role in monitoring the identification, development, and execution of strategic objectives.Involve all team members as appropriate to achieve goals.Effectively communicate to team members any changes and newsworthy events within the department or company.Handle difficult team member situations directly, using appropriate discretion and Human Resource advice to show respect for the individual.Champion change and effectively manage the implementation of new ideas.Reinforce a team approach throughout functions; support and solicit input from team members at all levels within the company.

Employment Requirements:

Successful completion of a background check, including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect, and fingerprint check.Completion of New Hire Orientation at the beginning of employment.All training requirements, including Relias, at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter.Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance.

Physical Requirements:

ADA Consideration - Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (exists 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.Repetitive movements of hands, fingers, and arms for typing and/or writing during the work shift.Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
