Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) Military Vehicle Mechanic

Job Description:

Duties / activities include inspection, diagnostics, Preventative Maintenance Check and Services (PMCS) and repair and rebuild of components and assemblies. Additionally, they will be required to drive wheeled and tracked military vehicles, as needed. The applicant will be expected to develop and maintain effective working relationships with external customers, other contractors, support agencies and vendors to coordinate and execute at the supporting test site with Army unit/agencies and local contacted support. 

External/Internal Description:

Determine the serviceability of vehicle systems, assemblies or sub-assemblies, and developing the methodology for repair. Tear down, build up and prepare vehicles for the addition of new systems on vehicle platforms. The required services include removal of legacy systems, preparation of vehicles for new systems and installation of new systems. Ability to utilize extensive military motorpool experience as a heavy equipment / military vehicle mechanic in the major areas of heavy-duty vehicle systems and repair consisting of diesel and gasoline engines, automatic transmissions, drive systems, steering, suspension, brakes and electronics and heating and ventilation air conditioning systems with a strong familiarity servicing the Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) family of vehicles. Have strong mechanical ability and understand proper use of hand and power tools. Ability to perform light fabrication. Repair components by replacing worn or damaged parts with new or reconditioned parts. Perform preventive and special maintenance. Uses technical manuals / publications to understand and maintain vehicles to prescribed manufactures' specifications and maintenance schedules. Perform special inspections and maintenance on vehicles requiring updates. - Develop and follow instructions to integrate unique components into existing ground vehicles. Work well in a team environment. Properly document all activities as required by task and for reporting purposes. Adhere to all established safety policies and standards Ability to travel up to 10%. Ability to lift/move 70 pounds.
