Basic Job Functions:
The Finishing General Utility position will encompass the duties of inspecting the product, correctly tagging the product and correctly tracking and marking the product either at the Cooling Bed or Inspection Bed. The general utility must become knowledgeable and be able to identify defects and repair codes, understand cut patterns, and learn the use of measuring devices (such as micrometers, calipers). In addition, this position is also required to assist in straightener changeovers, roll building, crane operations, and routine maintenance and clean up. After becoming familiar and proficient with the inspection process, the general utility will begin to learn operator positions to fit crew needs. This Finishing General Utility will obtain and maintain forklift and crane certification at all times. The General Utility must work in extreme temperatures, rotating shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Requirements:One year rolling mill experience.
