This role offers a remote, hybrid, or in-office working environment. Remote employees may travel to a company office for periodic meetings. **Responsibilities** + Perform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations + One-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, selection of substation equipment, writing of substation equipment specifications, proposal development, construction cost estimates, and project scheduling + Occasional travel will be required **Required Education/Experience** + Ability to function as a Mid-Level Substation Design Engineer for our San Diego office + BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, from an accredited university preferably with a power option + Experience in 15kV through 230kV substation design and IEEE/ANSI standards + Experience in managing small project teams + Experience filling the role of substation design engineer for several projects occurring concurrently + Engineer in Training (EIT) or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam + Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel. + Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship. **Desired Education/Experience** + 5+ years experience in utility substation design as outlined above + Experience in 345kV through 500kV substation design + Professional Engineering license (PE) + Managerial and leadership skills a plus POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is a global consulting environmental and engineering firm and one of the top design firms in the energy sector.
