**Mid-Level Substation Design Engineer**
**Job Summary**
POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is seeking a Mid-Level Substation Design Engineer to work in the Power Delivery Substation Department of our San Antonio, Texas office. Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (employee will need to live within commutable distance of the office).
**Responsibilities**
The Mid-Level Substation Design Engineer will share responsibility with the rest of the department to produce a product consistent with our mission statement and culture. They are expected to support the department in achieving its department goals, maintain our high-quality standards, promote internal teamwork, and meet the needs of our clients.
Perform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra-high-voltage utility substations including, but not limited to:
+ One-line diagrams
+ Schematics
+ Wiring diagrams
+ SCADA
+ Communications
+ Station physical layouts
+ Sections/Elevations
+ Cable and conduit plans and details
+ Ground grid design and details
+ Foundation plans and details
+ Structural plans and details
+ Control enclosure design and details
+ Lightning protection plans
+ Yard lighting plans
+ Construction cost estimates and contracts
+ Bill of Materials
+ Project scheduling and coordination
+ Site visits
+ Support QA/QC for deliverables to clients
+ Occasional travel will be required
**Required Education/Experience**
+ BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, from an accredited university preferably with a power option
+ Experience in 15kV through 500kV substation design and IEEE/ANSI standards
+ Experience in managing small project teams
+ Experience filling the role of substation design engineer for several projects occurring concurrently
+ Engineer in Training (EIT) registration
+ Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
+ Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship
**Desired Education/Experience**
+ 5+ years experience in utility substation design as outlined above
+ Professional Engineering license (PE) strongly preferred, or ability to sit for the exam within 6 months
+ Managerial and leadership skills a plus
