The Quality Engineering (QE) team help elevate quality practices at TWDC, promoting and onboarding new technologies, solving complex problems and integrating with next generation digital platforms. These teams are embedded and supporting corporate and segment business partners across the company.
Quality Engineers use a software engineering approach to architect, design, test, automate, monitor, and build applications at scale. This includes operating and engineering software with close business segment alignment to deliver platforms through efficient, secure, effective and resilient architectures. QEs are talented engineers that are focused on improving quality through a data driven approach: instrumentation, automation, and functional/unit testing.
Teams are located in Seattle, Burbank/Glendale and Orlando.
**Role Overview:**
As the Manager of Quality Engineering (QE), you will be responsible for building and managing a team of high-performing QEs, supporting various complex systems and applications for The Walt Disney Company. Your team will use a software engineering approach to architect, design, build, test, automate, monitor, and operate applications at scale, including building and operating processes, hardware, and software solutions that are efficient, effective, and resilient. A primary goal for you and your team is to help businesses and underlying systems create, deliver, and power our content, experiences, and products better, faster, safer, and with greater satisfaction.
**Key Responsibilities:**
The Manager will directly oversee QEs who elevate enterprise technology excellence by providing comprehensive quality engineering services that drive innovation, reliability, and security. You will partner closely with development and product teams to build quality into every stage of the software lifecycle. Our mission is to empower teams to deliver exceptional software products while reducing risk and accelerating time-to-market through expertise in testing, tooling, and quality engineering methodologies.
Working closely with peer Managers, QA Engineers, Technical Architects, Developers, and Systems Engineers, you will be responsible for implementing, improving, and successfully reporting against overall quality programs. This role requires sound leadership, excellent relationship-building, and customer-facing skills. The ideal candidate will think strategically when selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results, excelling in integration, scalability, build vs. buy decisions, and operating cost optimization.

**Work Experience:**
+ 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams responsible for quality, supporting and deploying products or services
+ 2+ years of previous hands-on experience as an engineer.
**Minimum Skills/Knowledge:**
+ Strong experience and thought leadership in Quality Engineering developing and implementing best testing practices
+ Strong knowledge of test automation
+ Knowledge if service standards and technologies
+ Strong interpersonal skills
+ Strong problem-solving skills
+ Strong analytical skills
+ Strong knowledge of tools such as Git and Jira
+ Ability to interact with developers and technology leaders at a technical level
+ Must be able to work with geographically dispersed teams
+ Effective verbal and written communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
+ Ability to thrive in a dynamic, collaborative, fast-paced environment
+ Attention to detail
+ Contract language and vendor management
+ Familiarity with test metrics and test reporting
+ Knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies

**Education:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field or relevant work experience.

The hiring range for this position in California is $152,200 - $204,100 per year and in Washington is $159,500 - $213,900 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
