Overview The Assistant Nurse Manager serves the department by providing supervision and clinical expertise to clinical staff (Medical Assistants, LPNs and RNs) in the OB/Gyn Clinic and other areas as appropriate. Assists the Ambulatory Administrator in hiring and firing of clinical personnel, conducting periodic clinical employee evaluations, orientation of new employees, and performance improvement activities. Assists the Ambulatory Administrator in managing the department budget(s). Facilitates positive customer service and patient-centered care in the clinic. Assists in direct patient care and related procedures as necessary, and serves as a charge nurse for the OB/GYN Clinic and Prenatal Diagnostic Program. Qualifications Required Education: Associate's degree Specific course work: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. New hires effective June 14, 2017, must have a BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing within three (3) years of hire or transfer into the position. New hires or transfers into in the position between August 1, 2013 and June 13, 2017 must abide with the conditions in his or her offer letter and the verbiage in the job description signed upon hire or transfer into the position. Current employees who were hired or transferred into the position prior to August 1, 2013 will be grandfathered. Preferred Education: Bachelor's in Nursing Necessary Skills: Requires excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to function independently. Demonstrated management skills, conflict resolution, and negotiation techniques. Knowledge of pertinent regulatory agency standards including but not limited to the JCAHO, AHCA, and the Nurse Practice Act. Age of Patients Served: All Age Groups Required Licensure/Certifications: Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Florida BLS from the American Heart Association Effective January 1, 2015, all new hires or transfers must have a professional certification within two years of hire or transfer. For certifications that require a specified number of cases or hours worked within the specialty, the certification must be applied for once the case/time requirement has been met, and the certification must be obtained within one year of the requirement having been met (e.g. oncology, chemotherapy, diabetes education). Required Experience: 3-5 years practicing RN in acute care, supervisory clinical experience or charge nurse experience. Supervision: Supervisory responsibility of 12-15 employees. Equipment Operated and/or Work Aids Used: PC, multi-line phones, fax, copier. May require knowledge of equipment including: , Omnicell medication station, IV pump, oxygen and suction equipment, mechanical beds, computer, monitors, scales, phlebotomy equipment, defibrillator, crash cart, CRT
